Kelly P Blumenthal is a photographer originally from the musically historical town of Memphis, TN.
“Placing nature center stage” is my why for being, as we are all intertwined with the earth, its beauty and benefit from the calm and joy it brings!
I grew up climbing trees, occasionally falling out of them and running barefoot in a small plum orchid and large garden. Growing up with my grandfather, a forester - I carry his sense of calm and nature wisdom with me, which I infuse into my art.
“Peace in nature, is calming for the mind and body!”
Published nature photojournalist and conservation photographer. Contributor to the Tennessee Conservationist magazine.
Growing up with an innate connection to trees and nature, which was taught and instilled in me by my Finnish-American grandfather. I was shaped by a Finnish culture that lives close to nature, and is at home in its essence.
And inspired by a grandmother who woke me up in the middle of the night to see astronomical events in my PJ’s!
Graduating with a degree in Anthropology gave me a wholistic view of the world around us, that shapes my work. When I pickup the camera I see the world through nature’s wholistic lens!
“A connection to nature, is needed now more than ever to revitalize the mind and body. ”
Creating art to inspire others to protect earth’s beauty and vitality! Influenced by my Finnish grandfather, a Forrester, who took me on nature walks to learn about the leaf designs of each tree on our walks. And raised by my mother, who taught art and design, gives me a unique perspective on viewing the world. We all can suffer from sensory overload and benefit from occasional breaks from the digital world.
“Nature and humanity are resilient, as the lotus emerges from the mud and blooms anew each day.”
Continuing on my grandfather’s legacy in caring for nature is my mission and to highlight the earth’s biodiversity!
